DR AMY TOSTEVIN (she/her)

DForenPsy, BSc (Hons)

Amy is a Registered Psychologist in New Zealand and a registered Forensic Psychologist in the UK. She is passionate about meeting clients where they are at and walking alongside to support them to feel heard and develop self-compassion. She believes that by telling and understanding our stories in new ways, we can enrich the meaning we give to ourselves and our lives. In this way, we find that the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem.

Amy has experience in Correctional, Forensic Mental Health and Community settings working with adults with a range of personality and mental health difficulties. She has specific interests in working with issues relating to personality, trauma, harmful/risky behaviours (i.e. violence, substance abuse) and mental health. She works from a trauma-informed mindset using an integrated approach informed by a range of models including: Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Self-Change, Compassionate Mind and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is also experienced and passionate about delivering group therapy.

Amy is a full member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and is registered with ACC. She is based in Queenstown and is currently accepting referrals.
