PGDipClinPsy, MSc,
Sam is originally from the Ida Valley in Central Otago, but now call Dunedin/ÅŒtepoti home - first moving here in 2011 when beginning his Clinical Psychology studies. He works in private practice only one day a week (Tuesday), as he is also the Director of the Clinical Psychology Centre at the University of Otago.
He recognises that pursuing therapy can be a daunting process, and pride himself on his ability to create a safe space that is welcoming and free of judgement.
He has trained in several therapy modalities as stated below. His particular focus is on working collaboratively with clients to better understand the way in which past experiences have influenced who they are now, and then developing more effective ways of responding to life’s difficulties in order to move towards a place of greater resilience and fulfilment.
He is registered with ACC sensitive claims and also see privately paying clients.
Therapies Used: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Parts Work.
